The 80s and 90s was the era of the musclebound action hero and as young lads growing up in this period, we were all introduced to the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Jean Claude Van Damme at an early age… despite the 18 only certificates on most of the movies!

Think all time classic films like Predator, Commando, Terminator, Conan, Rocky, Rambo, Kickboxer, Blood Sport… and the list goes on and on.

As kids, we would watch these movies on the edge of our seats, looking up to the legendary action heroes who were the stars of the show and loving every second of it when they started kicking ass later in the movie… which was always the case.

Right I’ve bit my tongue long enough on this one and I’m sick to death of seeing this shit pushed at you, usually the young people – millennials – because companies and worms selling you their snake oil, know that this type of messaging really appeals to a large percentage of the younger generation.

Equally what pisses me off is these beliefs of many millennials and young people that they are special enough and entitled to do what they love, travel the world, only work a couple hours per week, but at the same time make a ton of money – how many times have you heard the words “lifestyle business” – get internet famous by building loads of followers AND change the world or make an impact.

Regular jobs and/or long hard work for years is beneath them, especially when they don’t earn a ton of money from the get go or soon after.… ... Continue Reading

I have these moments of appreciation all the time. Often with friends and family, always with nature, wildlife and the great outdoors, sometimes with new experiences and occasionally something completely random. Well I’m going to start sharing them in the ‘Life’ category, partly for my personal diary sort of thing and partly so other like-minded souls can potentially share a moment of happiness too.

This is the first post in an ongoing series titled ‘Moments of Appreciation’. Wherever possible I’ll try to capture things on video now that I know that I’ll be doing a running series, but this one is a moment from one of my first days in Sydney after emigrating from the UK.
